Old School New Kitchen

We have made many improvements to the Old School Community Centre in recent years, including upgraded toilets and new windows, but a recent updating of the old kitchen is something else!

Thanks to a grant from Pobal CCIF, we have installed a state-of-the-art kitchen.

The facility was welcomed by existing groups Hollyfort Book Club and Hollyfort Writers, and we hope new groups will take advantage of the centre.

National Tree Week 21st March - 26th March 23

This year's NTW's theme is - Biodiversity Begins with Trees. We all hope it inspires people to plant and care for trees and to highlight the many benefits they provide to our environment and local communities.

This February '23, Hollyfort Tidy Towns/Unfurling Fern planted 350 native saplings on Mt Nebo - Oak, Scots PIne, Hazel and Hawthorn thanks to a Pobal Community Trails Grant.
At least 6 trees have been planted around the village thanks to Wexford Co. Council.

Remember - if you fell a tree in your garden, it is recommended to replace it with three saplings.

Tip of the Month

Recycling 1 ton of paper saves 7,000 gallons of water, three cubic yards of landfill space and 4,100 kilowatt-hours of electricity.

Reuse containers and reduce waste. The average child's school lunch generates 67 pounds of packaging waste over a year.

Batteries can cause serious harm to human health and the environment when disposed of with municipal solid waste. Many companies and retailers will take your old batteries and properly dispose of them or have them recycled.
