Hollyfort Village

Hollyfort (Irish: Ráth an Chuilinn, meaning "ringfort of the holly") is a village in north County Wexford, Ireland. It lies within the townland of Mangan (Irish: an Mongán, meaning "the little swamp") in the valley of the River Bann, 7 km northwest of Gorey.

Historically it was called Rahincullin, which is an anglicisation of its Irish name.

Tip of the Month - Drink Tap Water

Drink Tap Water

Bottled water does not just cost you at the till, it also costs the environment dearly

The average person will get through 168 single-use bottles of water in a year. As a nation we discard thousands of these water bottles every day – and rather than recycle them, we send up to 70% to landfill.

Bottled water is a thousand times more carbon intensive than tap, chiefly due to packaging and transport. Moving bottles of water around the globe adds about 100g CO2 per bottle.

Tip of the Month - Get Walking

Get Walking
Not only is walking the ultimate carbon and cost-free transport  but a brisk 30 minutes walk to work or school each day delivers the recommended two and a half hours of exercise we need each week to stay in good condition and reduce the risk of major illnesses such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes and cancer.

Apart from the environmental and health benefits – walking is an increasingly popular social activity. Get a group of people together and explore our beautiful riverbanks, coastlines and countryside by foot and reconnect with the great outdoors.

Tip of the Month - Swishing

To raise awareness of the need to recycle and reuse we are running a  Tip of the Month feature.
Here is May's Tip of the Month

Clothes swap

Embrace the new phenomena of Swishing: invite your friends over and ask them to bring a lovely but unloved piece of clothing or two so that someone else can fall in love with it. Everyone goes home with a revived wardrobe and full wallets.
