Tidy Towns Results 2019

Another good year for Hollyfort  with a further 8 points awarded by the Tidy Towns adjudicators who said:

'The number of different events that the Tidy Towns Group has been involved in over the past year under this category is quite amazing. These events are too numerous to mention but it must be said that the efforts made and work put into the Philip Casey Memorial Service was particularly commendable. It is heartening to learn that your involvement with the Tidy Towns Competition over the last number of years has been very beneficial for Hollyfort and is providing a renewed sense of belonging and unity amongst the local community, both within the village and in surrounding areas and people are now proud to say they live in Hollyfort.'

Tip of the Month: A new sustainability podcast

A sustainability podcast delving into the past, present and future of environmental issues. Do you want to know more about the environment?

Their first episode which you can listen to here is all about air pollution, you can listen to it where ever you normally get your podcasts. We take a trip back in time to the last time the globe faced a problem with transport and pollution during the great manure crisis of 1994, find out what’s really going on with air pollution today and what we can do about it.

The new AED machine is in situ at the old Gala in Hollyfort Village.

AED Training is on Thursday 29th at 7.30pm in The Old School House.

All About Herbs - National Heritage Week -Sun 25 Aug '19

Another chance to learn how to gather, grow and cook herbs for food and medicine with Nicky Darrell, herbalist, and Alex Duffy.
Gather at the Old School House, Hollyfort Village, Gorey - beside car park - at 11am. There will be a short walk followed by a talk and tasting.
Refreshments provided
This event is part of National Heritage Week and is free.

The critical first step of waste prevention has been overshadowed by a focus on recycling. Please help to promote a greater awareness of the importance of the "Reduce" part of the Reduce-Reuse-Recycle mantra. Simplify: Simplify your life as much as possible. Only keep belongings that you use/enjoy on a regular basis. By making the effort to reduce what you own, you will naturally purchase less/create less waste in the future.

Tip of the Month : Plant a Tree for National Tree Week

National Tree Week - Planting for our Planet - runs from 31/3/19 to 7/4/19. 
Tidy Towns will be planting several trees around the Hollyfort area during that week and everyone is welcome to join in.
